I just want to add that this is not a bad thing.
Howard checks the nortons he sells, and in his opinion, those made in mexico were better in both surface quality and overall finish.
I had the same problem you had, and it was because of 2 things:
1) I lapped using sandpaper. If you don't want to pay for a DMT, then buy the norton flattening stone. at at 25 dollars or something like that, they are very good value for money.
2) with some razors it is possible to get burrs on the edge at the low grit stage. I had it 2 or 3 times that these tear off on the 8K side, and then you feel them when the razor passes over them again. A quick lap will solve that.Til shade is gone, til water is gone, Into the shadow with teeth bared, screaming defiance with the last breath.
