Thread: Which grit is more important: #8000 or #12000?

Considering what you already have, I'd vote on the 8k too.

I find the 8K to be very important.
I never even think about finishing a razor before it would give a good shave off the 8K.

Imo a 4K and 8K is something that everybody should have, but maybe that's only because those work for me. I find my norton 4/8 indispensible. Maybe someday I'll buy shaptons, but since my norton does the job well, i'll stick with it for the grunt work.

After that I have my coticule and nakayama.

Others have moved from norton to belgians, and they haven't looked back. It all comes down to what works for you.
But one thing is certain imo. you need something after the 4K before going to the pastes or you'll waste a lot of time.
