Default Shapton Glass and Professional Stones

Just curious - what is the major difference between the shapton glass stones and their professional stones besides the professional ones looking to be more expensive. Anyone that use them have any input on differences?

I have the Shapton Ceramic on Glass stones. I do not have the Pro Series. I conversed with forum members of the Japanese Woodworking style that have a community which is accessed through the shaptonstones.com website. Many of them that prior to the availability of the ceramic on glass stones had used the Pro Series have switched to the ceramic stones. They report less stiction problems in honing their chisels and plane irons with the ceramic stones. Also, even though the Pro Series stones are clearly thicker, the thickness is slightly misleading since the stones can not be used until gone. Once they get to a certain unstable thinness, the Pro Series breaks and is rendered useless. The Ceramic on Glass, bonded to the float glass can be used until the ceramic is gone.

    I hope that helps.
