Help using pastes.
I recently had great success using chromium o.5 and diamond 0.25 after my escher to get great edges, sharper than i have ever seen before.
I got this carbon steel blade that i succesfully sharpened with pastes in the past that was getting a tiny bit dull and brought it back to the pastes, i did 10 passes on the chromium and maybe 10 -15 in the diamond 0.25, the shave i got was very ruff....wasnt sharp-smooth anymore, it was pulling and hurting...did i messed up the edge? where this teeth came from? its not like i did 100 passes.....did i over pasted the edge? can i correct this without going back to the hone?
Your help and advice is very much apreciated, thank you so much.
Sergio.

Thanked: 150In my experience diamond pastes tend to put a pretty aggressive edge on the blade if you don't strop well enough on plain leather before the shave.
So I'd suggest some more stropping on plain leather, as a starting point.
Is there a reason you don't want to do a few passes on your Escher? I use mine as much as possible (within reason)

i am getting the feeling that an edge after the chromium is smoother than the diamond .25....
i will super strop this baby, if doesnt smooth out, it will have to meet the escher and the chromium.

You may have over honed a touch too. I'd cut back on the number of passes from the last go round. Your pushing the sharpness envelope.
Another option: this would also be likely if your using a hanging strop instead of a paddle, but you don't mention the type of strop your using with the pastes.
