    Default Help with Griffin CarboMagnetic

I have honed @ 30 str8s successfully to this point. I have recently acquired a very nice, close to unused, Griffin CM. When honing I can't seem to get th last 1 inch (point) to sharpen adequately. I tried a test shave and first stroke I felt the end digging into my skin. Although not readily visible, the end seems to either be slightly twisted or slightly bent toward that one side. I've done the mmt and that side clears off the marker. The other side does not completely do this. When laying the blade on its side on a flat surface, I can feel one side level and the other slightly elevated. THere is a difference
Any thoughts about rehabilitating this? This is the first I've seen with this type problem.

Easy way = Use a thin hone and a tight X stroke, or perhaps a rocking or swooping stroke and hone around it....

Hard way = Break out the 180-2000 grit sandpaper and do a complete restore on the blade so the the old spine wear and bevel wear is completely gone, tape the spine and rehone the razor, that should do the trick....

I'm not sure this does anything for the twist, bend, or warp at the end. I've messed with a slight rocking.
When I got the blade it had almost no wear on the spine. There was a nip on the blade so I taped the spine and ground down the blade on a 220k then a 1000k. This was about 1/16". I then honed a bevel (with tape on) and set an edge on a 8K DMT. All looked really good until I started testing for sharpness. Then I saw the problem at the last o inch. That was when I tried the rocking and rolling method on the edge portion of the hone. This did not help witht the part that seemed out of alignment.

It sounds like after all that, ya might just have a bum blade, it does happen, but before ya give it up try PMing David (heavydutysg135 ) and see if he has time to look at it.... and at least confirm or deny that it is shot... He is really good with the twists and warps...
