I have a vague memory of being corrected in this by an Englishman when I was young. I'm still not sure exactly what is correct - other than "Scottish" - of course.

That stone looks like my Tam o Shanter. The dots are a dead give away. I have a tiny WofA stone in my collection and it's labeled. It's brownish with dots. It's definitely not black.

The stones were marketed as Scotch Stones in their time. My understanding is that someone from Scotland is Scottish and they have a whiskey there named Scotch. They also invented golf. Have a great poet named Burns. They also had a guy named MacAdam who invented asphalt roads. Great place and I'd love to go there for a visit.

Almost as nice as Wales, but alot colder
I always thought Scotch was a word for any blended Scottish whiskey, as oposed to Scottish single malt whiskey.
