Default Craftsman combination barber hone help

I picked up a nice Craftsman Combination barber hone off the Bay and I was hoping that someone can provide me with some info on it.

It is grey on one side (with the recess that says Craftsman) and red on the other. It lapped out nicely.

I am guessing that one side is probably a little finer than the other for finishing but it's hard to tell which because they are both pretty slick. The grey does look and feel slightly more porous. It came with the instructions but they don't mention any difference. Any help would be appreciated.

which do the instructions say to use first? That would be the rough side, the other would be the finer side.

The instructions don't even mention that there are two sides. I guess I should have waited a little while before posting my inquiry. Now that it has dried out, I can really feel the difference. The grey is definitely the coarse side. Under the 15x, it looks like some sort of carborundum. The red side has a finer grain than my brown barber hones. Looks like some sort of ceramic. I prefer naturals but this looks like it will turn out to be a nice hone.
