Thanked: 2209Hello Bud!
It looks like one of the razors has a big spot of hone wear. That must have been difficult to hone!Randolph Tuttle, a SRP Mentor for residents of Minnesota & western Wisconsin

hi
Hi Randy this razor was hardest razor i have ever seen.took me 3 months to hone. it is seven day set and musem item.i got crazy and said i will make it sharp. My problem was who own this razor always used tape before sharpening to save back of the blade as a result angle was changed .to get right angle took a lot hardwork and time.
i put that picture up because in old forum i was trying to explain if you are using everyday razor you don't have to use tape.becUSE of the tape hones changes angle then even you can't use paddle strop or regualar strop.instead of to get sharp you will make it dull.i couldn;t post in old forum and posted in here.

Thanked: 150I haven't had any problems stropping a razor that was honed with tape, and it is usually just a matter of minutes to correct the more obtuse angle from honing with tape, what kind of hone did you use?

Thanked: 2209Hello Bud,
I do not understand why using tape causes you problems. I use it on all my razors for all honing and paddle strops and still have no difficulty when I remove the tape for regular stropping.?
It sounds to me like the prior owner may have lifted the spine when he honed the razor or used a hone with a lot of wear, dished out in shape, or used a hanging pasted strop for sharpening with to much slack, maybe?Randolph Tuttle, a SRP Mentor for residents of Minnesota & western Wisconsin

Hi Bud!
Why didn't you just use tape as well? It is obviously a museum quality set BECAUSE he used tape, otherwise both the spine and edge would be honed down a LOT. With tape you can get as good an edge as you can with most razors regardless of the angle change in my experience. I know others would argue that, but my face can't tell a few degrees difference. Plus you can just change your handling angle when shaving, making this razor useable past its normal mileage.

i really don't know i started to hone this.i guess wanted to know what type still it has make shave ready and try it.anyway i have killed that razor .always learning.i am confused about angle change i mean totally confused.i hope i could make picture of edge drowning and to show why i think putting tape will make it worse.
about hones i used everything i can grab.norton4/k/8k etc
