Default help lapping a 12K Chinese

I've worn out a bunch of wet/dry sheets of 3M and Norton emory paper, 220 and 320 grit. Still have a way to go on one side. There has got to be a better way. I'd appreciate any suggestions that doesn't cost an arm and a leg. Thanks.

A norton lapping stone should do the trick. wait a while and there should be more opinions and solutions.

    Hey GK:

Wet/Dry paper although a cheap lapping solution at the outset, can quickly become costly over time with keeping your supply stocked.

A DMT D8C Coarse 325 grit or an DMT D8X 220 grit diamond plate will last you probably years and years and each will set you back around $40 + shipping.

The D8X would be better if you plan to lap alot of stones and need to remove a lot surface to get a flat surface (refurbish very hard barber hones, etc). But the D8C would be a better all around performer since the scratch pattern left by this plate is finer so it works well as a refresher.

I've had great luck buying DMT products HERE
