in my car and at the price of gas right now it will be about $10 dollars in gas. to have them ship it they would ship from Ottawa instead of London and it would cost me $20, i checked. plus there are some other things i can find to do in London while i'm there. i don't go to often anymore, plus i don't have a good tool store in town so i will be kind of shopping through the place as a first time visitor. i was all set to order one fromt he US until i realized that our dollar has dropped so much that the price is a lot more now. i guess i wasn't paying attention.

I was also shocked when it dropped into the low 80's and I was gonna look into some used trucks (lookin' for a li'l Ranger/Dakota/Sonoma/B2300) in the Buffalo area.

i wish you were closer as i have a Mazda B2200 extra cab for sale. maybe that isn't what you are looking for but it is kind of a coincidence.
oh and i bought the stone, Lee Valley has great service and lots of really neat stuff. if i had extra cash i would be dangerous in there. i signed up for their cataloque so now i can drool over the next thing i need.
next is lapping. lets see how i do.

just an update i lapped the stone on 600 grit and it is working great. i am taking it slow so i really pay attention to my technique. i didn't realize how dull my razors were until i used the 8k side on my Boker (supposed to be my sharpest razor) and finished with (my chinese 12k is on the way, thanks Chris) CrOx strop, then the linen, then the leather. i had a great shave today. and that was just trying it out. i am already totally satified with this hone. thanks for all the advice guys, it really did help.

I'm glad this worked out for you. Actually you can use chromium oxide straight off the Norton. That's what I've been doing without any issues. Ofcourse, your razor being a Boker, had a lot to do with it.
I was almost gonna go to Sarnia to take a look at a Dakota that seemed like a great deal, but arranging the logistics of it is a bit difficult. Toronto trucks are usually either dropped and riced up or abused by contractors.
