Fun with a stone saw!
The raw materials:....................
The tool:.................
The end result:..................
10 narrow (the way I like em) Chinese 12k stones with slurry stones (1.25"x7"x.5" approx)
15 larger Chinese 12k slurry stones (2 5/8" x .75" x .5" approx).
Some of you will pick up on the shots of the 1K Shapton ceramic on glass stone. I took one for the team and have ended the speculation once and for all as to whether the glass substrate is tempered or not. I'll start another separate post on that in this same basic honing section to reveal the results.
Some of the Chinese 12k narrow hones/slurry stones and the larger 12K slurry stones are spoken for, but the rest I'll be posting in the classifieds soon. Guys, that raised yours hands for one or the other in advance, I'll be sending you a PM soon on details.
I love power tools. I like doing things by hand, too, but cutting these suckas up manually would have been torture!!

Heckuva job Chris. I don't have a Chinese 12K and I am tempted. Anyhow, I am really looking forward to seeing what happens with the GlassStone.
Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.

Thanked: 3795You already revealed the results...
You cut the freakin' Shapton!!!!
I figured I had enough money in a bunch of rocks that I shouldn't try the Shaptons, but hey, a set of half Shaptons, just think of all the money I could save!
Very nice job!
I suspect you are going to get rid of all of the 12K bits in short order when the word gets out.

Thanked: 174Not just a pretty face then.
Good job Chris.
You could this to a Chosera and get quite a few a few narrow slices. It would certainly bring the cost down. No, Im not volunteering mine.

Thanked: 3795Hey Chris,
What are the barber hones that you cut? Are you going to use them for slurry stones, tiny hones, or did they just happen to get too close to the saw?
