Thanked: 4942Hand Cranked Sharpening Wheels
I thought you guys would like to see these old hand cranked sharpeners from yeasteryear. Don Perkins had them at the ShaveWorld.org meeting a couple of weeks ago. One is a Koken. He was selling the pair for $1,400 or $900 for the large one and $650 for the big one. He said if you do a search under Barfly in the Koken Catelog, you would find these. I didn't look yet.
Have fun. They were pretty cool. The idea is to turn the crank and the round stone turns.

I have one exactly like it, but in pristine condition. There is a tool auction in Pennsylvania the Amish have. A friend of mine goes. I paid 10 dollars for it.

Thanked: 335My dad had one similar to Lynn's in the photos, but with an enclosed gear train. I spent many hours in my youth turning the crank while dad ground his chisels and plane irons.

I've never seen a hand crank like that, but I do have a few of those morgan silver dollars!
Funny to me is that the same razor that cost two of those silver dollars at the turn of the century today will still cost two of those silver dollarsFind me on SRP's official chat in ##srp on Freenode. Link is at top of SRP's homepage

Thanked: 3795Even for an antique, those seem way overpriced. Has anyone here tried using anything like this on a razor? Maybe these were meant for razors but I have a hard time imagining it.
BTW, I never knew large was bigger, or larger, than big!
