Default adding a barber hone or finisher to a pyramid

Just a noobie question about continueing a pyramid progression with a finisher and the Norton 8K. Any one have a comment related to that?

And a second question on length of hones and stroke angle. Does it make a difference if your stones change the angle of stroke resulting in the change in blade srtiations due tot he hone? Should a person try to use the same length of hone or stroke?

Thanks for the help and the great forum.

    Default

None of that is a concern. I pyramid on a Norton combo and then finish with a few strokes on a lathered barber hone these days. I have used a pasted paddle as a finisher in the past as well. Once the razor passes the HHT off the 8k, I move up. No more pyramiding necessary. No worry about teh different stroke angle. As always, a very light touch to finish.

    Default thanks

thanks xman for the reply. Both are topics that ai had not ran across in my reading of old posts and else where.

I am slowly learning and have done most of the things that are said for noobies to stay away from. Started with old very dull razors and learned to hone in the process of learning the art of the straight. Also did a restore on a razor that is now the third owned by me. I figured that if guys ahve been doing this for hundreds of years then I should be able to pick it up also.

I am doing ok so far but my list of questions is mounting.

    Thanks again.
