Thanked: 74How much to do to a 'shave ready' razor
I scored a really sweet Friodur from my local antique mall this weekend that looks to have never been used. It is quite sharp, easily popping hairs from the top of my foot (I have been scolded for removing all of the hair from my arm, I only test in non-visible spots now). Was just wondering how much honing to do with a blade in this condition. The other blades I have honed have started out much worse.
Would an aggressive/conservative pyramid be enough? Or should I just polish a little with the 8k?

Thanked: 11If it's popping hairs already, I'd give it a good strop and try shaving with it. It might not need anything more than that and if it does then at least you'll know if it's almost there or if it needs a little work.
