stone from india
i recently had a friend make a trip to india. she was kind enough to bring me back a hone and a razor. both seem fairly new.
the stone is 1 1/2" x 5 7/8 ". small, yes. it is in a pink box. and all of the writing seems to be hindu. both sides are smooth, virtually no grit what so ever. i was wondering who might be familiar with this. can i hone with it dry, with oil, or with water?
any help would be tremendous.
cheers!

The instructions are on the box
Just kidding, sorry for being a wise guy . If it is for razors and it sounds like it is if it is smooth try it with water. Chances are it may be a finishing stone but it is hard to say until you try it out and see what it does.

Oh great, now we're going to find out that there's been a previously undiscovered natural polishing stone from India that has long been a kept secret among the town square Indian barbers; this stone is so fine and is absolutely magical at producing an edge that wipes away whiskers as if the whiskers are entranced by the razor's edge. This stone will quickly gain an incendiary amount of interest among us HADdicts and we'll quickly beg to pay three times the cost of YG Eschers to gain its power.
