Shapton water stones come with ?
I see the Nortons are advertised as coming with a plastic storage case etc...
What do Shaptons come with ?
Is it nessesary to have a holder for them ?
Id love to see some member setups for honing and sharpening like how you have things set when you are going to hone/sharpen ...
Thanks all ....

Mine cam in a plastic storage container with 4 little rubber "feet". I've seen them being offered in cling foil.

Thanked: 95And mine came in a black cardboard box, this is the American version, bought in June.
I don't use a stoneholder for my hones, but I'm sure its nice to have one.Last edited by bjorn; 12-28-2008 at 01:01 PM.

Thanked: 17Mine came from Craftsman Studio (Good People) in cardboard and that is what I store them in.
The stone is only 3/8" thick so you will probably need something to elevate it off your work surface.
I have the Shaption holder. At 2 1/4" tall it gives you plenty of finger room. It is made of glass and rubber and surprisingly heavy and very stable. The holder was pricey but I am glad I have it.
