    Default Apex Super Combination stone

Living in the UK seems to be a great disadvantage to straight users. Next to nothing is available locally by way of hones and subsequently, in my impatience, I bought what was available at Trumpers - namely an Apex Super Combination stone.
I have honed my regular Dovo and also used it to create a bevel and sharpen an eBay W&B chopper both of which I am now using 'quite' comfortably(?).
The question is this, as the packaging gives no indication whatever as to the grit of the stone I feel a little in the dark. One site quoted 400 - a number I can hardly believe to be correct having read the posts here. Does anyone know these hones (coarse side - charcoal grey, finer side - beige) or roughly what grit the finer sides are? It feels smooth to the touch and doesn't really absorb water.
Any advice from UK users would also be welcome, I've been using the Dovo for about six years but had been alone till I found this site!

    Thanks

    Hi, have a look a blueprinciple's site www.theinvisibleedge.co.uk
He sells most of what we need here in the UK.
I read those Apex hones were 400 grit too, as you say that is barely fine enough for a pen-knife!
Where are you in the UK?
    Cheers Marcus Swansea.

I have had the same problem in Ireland, nowhere seems to sell either straights or hones. If you want a Belgian yellow why not go directly to the source? [url=http://uk.ardennes-coticule.com/

Nearly everything I've got I sent to the US or Europe for.

Cheers Guys, look like some good tips, I'll have to check the invisible edge again once they take down their annoying giant 'we're closed for Christmas' box that covers everything! Can't understand those?
I live in Hertfordshire Marcus just outside the M25.

    Thanks again chaps!
