Default Slurries seem to cause micro-chipping with certain razors, anyone else noticed this?

I seem to get better results with my waterstones using just water or even dry. For finishing, dry seems to work very well. But with slurries, I seem to get a coarser shave. Anyone else noticed this?

There is some evidence of this at tim zowada's website. He magnified some bevels and edges after sharpening on various hones. Some of the pics show what happens with different slurries. I think somebody posted some evidence of this here at srp using coticles and belgian blues. As far as chipping goes, I couldn't tell you.

Yes, its true. Otherwise known as overhoning. I think you've posted in the wrong section though. I suggest asking a mod to move. Chipping=Slurry; Slurry=Greater cutting power

I used to use my coticule or Escher with water only. After reading many of Bart's posts I started using slurry and working my way back to water only as I progress. I have gotten good results with this method on a half dozen razors. Chipping hasn't been an issue for me.
Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.
