    Default raising a slurry

    Hello,
I have a BBW and a coticule, but no slurry stones. Is there a way to raise a slurry?

You can get a slurry stone from Howard at the Perfect Edge or you can get one of those extra fine DMT pocket knife sharpener diamond plates.
Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.

Would that be this one: DMT F70E?

    Or perhaps the DMT W7E?

before I got a slurry stone and a dmt plate I just used some w/d sand paper. I suppose you'd have to worry about grit contamination but I never had a problem with it. I remember a member here saying that he saved the slurry from lapping his stones and would use the dry powder.

This morning I noticed some slurry stones for coticule available in the classifieds.

I would probably opt for the finer one of the two you posted. I have one of the credit card sized plates in the middle of the page here.

If raising a slurry, what diff would it make, unless you want to lap as well? @kouytfouy I would go ahead and get a slurry stone from the classifieds, contamination issues dont scare me but I think it would be nice to stick with one abrasive on the hone. JMO

Seems pretty flat. I don't use it for slurry anymore as I have slurry stones of matching grit like nun2sharp mentioned. It is good for hitting a lick on my pocket knife though.

By the way I also have a DMT8E, and a wiki article suggests it's ok to use to raise a slurry. Is this correct?
