Thanked: 39chinese 12k polishing
Greetings!
Quick question..I've honed a razor on my norton 4/8k using the pyramid (not the agressive one) so how many strokes shoul i use for polishing whit a chinese 12k without slurry (I have no slurry stone, I could use the Dmt to get a slurry but I prefer not to use it at the moment) and with slurry (when I can get my hands on one).
Thanks!

Thanked: 108A lot. Like over a hundred. Don't worry, you can't really overhone with a Chinese.
But you sure can under-hone. These are great hones, but be patient.
I haven't used the Chinese with slurry, so I'll let others comment on that.

Well, with out just saying "as many as it takes" I'll say just go ahead and give it a cool hundred laps. I wouldn't worry about every overhoning on this stone, and too much is better than too little in this case. I've tried with and without slurry, and I'd say just skip the slurry.
Remember, the important honing needs to be done before you ever get to the 12k.

Thanked: 3795Also, realize that the Chinese 12k needs to occasionally be refreshed if you don't use a slurry. Otherwise, it's cutting/polishing capacity will diminish.

I usually do 50 laps with slurry, and 50 laps without. So far, that's always gotten out the scratch marks from my DMT 8EE.
