    Ditto what Jimmy said.

I've shaved right after coming off the coticule and plain leather stropping, and it works JUST fine. The thuringian smooths out the edge just a tad more after the coticule, it's not like there's a huge difference. But I could get along just fine with just the coticule, but it's fun to have more toys to play with.

    Congrats!

sometimes i wonder though, going from one finish stone to another... is it the stone, or was it just more laps?

seriously though, you can get a nice shave from an 8k stone, but it's NOT quite as nice as finishing on a finer grit stone with a few laps on CrO.

    Hi!

I would say you are right considering that it is conveniant for your specific type of beards and if you don't mind to hit frequently the stones with your Str8s...

As a matter of fact, pastes are great, not only for giving this missing notch or two for a very confortable BBS shave, but also for preservating much longer your edge...

Meaning that, one using the pastes will not hone his blades as often as one who doesn't use them.. seen that the pastes, being finer, will take less material off than the stones..

This, of course, will show a huge difference after years of use...

The blades stropped on pastes will be almost as new....
