Default Bought a Norton flattening stone

Hi I have bought a Norton flattening stone and just finish lapping all of my stones (100/200, 200/1000, 4000, 4000/8000, 6000 ans coticule . I must say I am very pleased with the results.

Before I use to lap my stones on a 400 grit wet/dry sanding paper over a half inch glass. With the Norton I notice that my stones were not flattened right. They all had a small imperfection on them.

Now I have to redo all my razors and check out the result. Lots of work ahead.

I have a Chinese 12000 grit stone on order from Woodsraft. Should this one be flattened also??? and will the Norton do the job. I've read that this stone is very hard!!

I think the norton flattening stone shouldn't be used to lap a chinese 12k. I don't have either of them, but I have read up on the norton flattening stone and the chinese. Since the norton flattening stone is softer than the chinese 12k, you run the risk of un-flattening it. As I said, I don't have either of these stones, but I would avoid using it for your chinese.

I would just use sandpaper to lap your chinese. Good luck!
