    Default got em' now what?!?

Good grief what a day, they all arrived at once, I got the norton sharpening system from peach tree, and a barber's hone from SRP member, looking at it all I hardly know where to begin... : )

From peach tree - 240/1000 grit norton, 4000/8000 grit norton, flatning stone, and water tray ( with DVD but we're not shapening tools).

Clearcut Razor hone - I got this to touch up my dovo, no box, shouldn't I use water with this??

I know I have to lapp, and bevel the edges of the norton stones before I get started, and I've watched lynn sharpen in his video, but still a bit overwhelming....

Do I have enough to make an old razor shave ready or do I have to have the chrome oxide paste and strop or a 12k stone??

I just love the SRP they have the best brain trust!!!

    Yes.

After you can get a razor shaving well on the 8K, try playing with chrom ox or other finishing stones. If I had to do it all over again, I would get good with the Norton, Period. Then play. That way you really know what's going on.

You've got enough to get a razor in shape to shave. I wouldn't use the Norton flattening stone on the barber hone. Barber hones can be mighty hard and may damage it. If you have a truly shave ready razor that will give you a benchmark to shoot for.

It might be best to start practicing on a lesser quality ebay or antique shop razor if you have one. If all you've got is a shave ready razor I wouldn't start with that if it was me. Lynn's dvd and heavydutysg's video helped get me started. As I suppose you know the honing tutorials on bevel setting and pyramids with the Norton 4/8 are in the SRP Wiki.
Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.

Yes, I picked up three over the last month, I got a nice Robeson shuredge, and Jessop steel 3/t and a wedge....All are chip free, a quick buff with ye' old dremmel and polishing wheel and they shine like new pennies. Each shows little hone wear, with the wedge showing the most.

My dovo I purchased from SRD and I've been using it for about a month. I'm still getting bbs, but I test the shapness every once in a while by "skimming" the blade over my arm. It's cutting less and less by the week. I wait 24 hrs between stropping with linen and leather. I get good results from the shave but I can no longer feel the blade cutting through the whiskers....
