Thanks for the post.
Today I honed 4 razors. And it was just the second time I honed them. The first time I did little work on the 4000 and then quickly moved up to 6000 and 8000. It took me long (!!!) to get a good edge on the 8000, because I stayed not long enough on the 4000.
So I guess you're right, saying that moving up on the stones just beacuse you have them ist not always good.

Thanked: 3795Well, now you know! In general, you shouldn't need more than 20 to 30 strokes at most on the 8k.

How would the concept of shaving off an 8K parallel with a Belgian progression?
I go DMT1.2K, BBW slurry diluted to just water, coti w/water.
Would the parallel be to try and shave off the BBW before hitting the coti?

Give it a try. I have used your progression with the BBW/Yellow and gotten great shaves. I haven't tried shaving off of the BBW only. I will try it too just for the heck of it but not today. I have something else I'm playing with today that I will report on later. It seems to me that the BBW with slurry ought to be fine for getting a shave but would it be equivalent to a 4k or an 8k or something in between. Remains to be seen. Not trying to rhyme the line on the last two.
Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.
