Default Water of Ayr and Tam

    Classification: Abrasive Materials
Dalmore, Stair, Mauchline, Ayrshire KA5 5PA

I found this manufacturer on the web with no website or email.

Is there someone in the area that knows if they are still producing stones?

Can someone ring them and find out if they have a catalog or some way to order them if they are available.

    Cheers.

I hope someone has better luck than me! I got through once, about five months ago. A disgruntled-sounding bloke half-heartedly took note of what I wanted and told me he would get back, but I didn't hear anything from him after three weeks or so and began ringing again. Tuesday and thursday mornings, mostly, after a tip-off I got from someone on this site. Nothing. The phone just rings and is picked up by an answerphone service. No one ever replies to the messages. I still ring occasionally. I did find their stuff on the Intaglio Print Makers site, so I ordered a few stones from them. I got a phonecall the next day from Intaglio telling me that they just couldn't get hold of the mine, let alone the stones. The stones have since vanished from their online catalogue.

What a sterling way to run a business - no wonder UK home-grown industries are all but vanished if management like this is anything to go by!

    Regards,
    Neil

Coully (a member here) picked a few up some time ago and sold them to members. He stopped trying to get more as he had similar difficulties as described above getting hold of more.

I read that the mine closed but I cannot find any contemporary websites to support that. I was thinking of sending an old fashioned letter on paper with a stamped envelope.

I did just that: no reply.

Does anyone in the neighborhood have a map, a shovel, and a pick ax?
