    Micro mesh works well for polishing the metal on razors, but I don't think that anyone has tested it with any honing yet, at least not that I've heard of. I had a fairly big sheet of the 12k and I was considering using some of it sort of like a strop, but I can't find it. You couldn't really use it to hone, its a cloth backed abrasive that reminds me of thin leather. I'd think the high grits might do a pretty good job if used as an abrasive strop. I used the 12k mesh mainly to smooth out the nibs on fountain pens, and you need to get a very small surface pretty polished for them to feel right.
