    Hey D.J.,
Here's a link to info on the Rolls Razor:
    http://www.geocities.com/Heartland/P...Rolls_Page.htm
The blade master is a honing/stropping machine for double edge blades.
Some well-known names on the str8s. Can't tell the condition by the pics, but if you have a few good shavers out of the lot, looks like a good deal. Hope it works out well.

    Default Rolls Razor

Rolls Razors are great. It's just like shaving with a straight razor only easier to get some of the angles. I use one when I'm in a hurry. Don't oil the center piece but put some grease on the gears on the side about every 5 years and you'll be ok. If you lubricate the center piece it looses the friction it needs to sharpen. They really work good. I use olive oil on the leather. Be careful with the stone part, they break easy. About 30 round trips on the stone and then about 30 round trips on the leather. After that just use the leather for everyday and use the stone about once a week if you use the razor everyday. Try it you'll like it.
    Happy shaving

I recieved the lot of straight razors and the Rolls razor today. I am fascinated with the Rolls razor. unfortunately, the hone is missing.. I looked at the link in a previous reply and found a man who probably has one that I can buy. For now though, I am more interested in restoring a couple of these straights. The only honw that I have is a barbers stone. I think I may need to go buy some 1000 grit paper to get these things sharp again. a few of them will barely shave the hair on my forearm... some will go straight to the garbage and a couple will probable find themselves right back on ebay(look out). Thanks for the input.

There is not much that can be done with a chipped, over-used, or otherwise irreparable blade. The scales can be very useful if they are reasonably in tact. If it looks like both, or only a single scale can be salvaged and recycled to shave again, it's worth the little time it takes to remove them intact.

Carefully, file off one of the pivot pin heads. Pick the head on the back scale, or the worst scale of the two, in that order. When the head is very nearly filed off, you can usually use a tweezers or wire nosed pliars to remove the collar or the remaing shards of brass. Slowly, gently wiggle the scale of the headless pin. That done, remove the blade. Snip the part of the pin that was between the scales holding the blade in with a wire cutting pliars near the second scale. Flip the scale over and wiggle the pin stub from the remaining scale. The end pin can remain with the scales to keep them from getting separated.

Scales can fetch money on ebay if they are matched and in reasonably good condition. Otherwise, send them to your favorite razor restorer during the winter holiday season

I have a few things Ill be sending you soon....

I think I have a pretty nice one out of the bunch though, its a Wade & Butcher 5/8 i believe. The scales are either bone or ivory. They are off white and I can see little grains in them. at the ends of the scales, the ends of the "grains" are a little red or brown. Then again, I really dont know what I am looking at. I tried to take a picture but my camera battery is dead. Ill post a picture as soon as I can.

That's bone .... bone has blood channels; ivory does not

    Default Just got one

A good friend gave me one of these in mint condition today. Just shaved with it and was amazed. This is a handy shaver to have.
