Itsapeech
Hey guys, my burgeoning HAD took hold of me and I bought an unidentified barber hone from a member on another site. It showed up and it appears to be an "It'sAPeech". I've done some searches and it looks like this is a pretty fine one...does anyone have any particular information about this hone? Did I done well?

cjbianco just had one for sale in the srp classifieds. It looks like it has been sold. Maybe the seller or buyer in that transaction would be able to help you out.

I've never had one. When I first came around SRP I used to see them mentioned. I did a search for the alternate spelling and came up with these if you want to look through them.
Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.

Thanked: 3795I've wanted one for years and finally got one in the BST last year. I think it was from Ben-Mid but I'm not certain. Anyway, at the risk of bumping up the market for them, since I'd like to get a few more of them, I'll just say that I think they are freakin' awesome! They are definitely a finer grit than the Swatys. When honing, the edge just sticks to the hone with the same feel as my favorite Asagi. Under the microscope, the ItsaPeach does not look significantly different from a Swaty but is sure performs better. I hate admitting that this, but if you have a chance to get one, do it. You won't regret it. In my opinion they are much better than Swatys. Of course, if anyone believes me, this means I will never win one on ebay.

Its a typical barbers hone made for finishing. For A while Tilly was selling these things. She had bought all of the remaining stock when the manufacturer went out of business.
As I recall there was one main company in Iowa I think who made most of the barbers hones which they made for different vendors and blade manufacturers and they just put different names on them.No matter how many men you kill you can't kill your successor-Emperor Nero

Thanked: 3795It was the American Hone Company in Monrovia, Iowa. I've got a couple of hones from them and the Itsapeech feels and looks finer to me. It's got a stickiness to it that I've never felt on any other barber hone. It's also not as thick, so they must have used at least two different molds.

Thanks for the info, gents.
The hone does feel and look very different from my Primble hone, both in color and in "texture", whatever that's worth. It's also much thinner. The name appears to have been stamped on the hone in ink or paint, rather than stamped into the hone like most other barber hones I've seen in pictures.
I'm happy about it, indeed. It sounds like I lucked out this time!

it is an ultra fine finishing hone and a quality one at that if records are correct. Remember, just a few swipes on a lathered barber hone like this and you can touch up your razor very quickly.
