What's your favorite last stone?

I'm curious to hear what you'd pick as your very favorite finishing stone or the one you use most often.

I personally love the Kitiyama but what do I know?

My fave is still the Shapton 16k ceramic on glass. This will be sacrilege to some, I know, but I still have to blow the dust off of my Nakayama Asagi from So and actually spend a significant amount of time with it to really learn its magic. Time. Who's got a bunch of spare time I can buy while still keeping my dayjob and my family intact?

For the last several weeks my Naniwa superstone 12K has been my last finishing hone for 90% of the time. The remaining 10% have been used on my Shapton 16K, Escher or Karasu.

A narrow, hard, yellow/green coticule natural combo (yellow side) for me. With just water, no slurry, it gives a keen and smooth edge, even coming off a softer coticule.

At the moment it would be grandpa's old coticule. I have the shapton 16k but I haven't gotten into a good relationship with it yet. Once I figured out the secret with the hand held stones the coticule just shot to the from of the line.

For straights that is

At the moment i'm loving just the simple Coticule & water, but i also like my vintage Thuringians. I've not invested in the expensive Japanese naturals or Shaptons, so can't comment on them.
