Smoothing out an edge.

You can see my current progression here, which i think i am about to change.


Razor #1(Puma 4/8 Hollow) i used the chinese 12k before the pastes
Razor #2(Wapi) i went straight from norton 8k to pastes.

Both razors were sharp, pass HHT and easily shaved my face WTG/ATG.

Both were a little harsh. #1 less than #2.

With #1 i felt a tiny bit of sting in some spots after some Osage rub, but was fine after that.

With #2, same burn but more. I actually felt razor a bit of razor burn on my smooth face a few hours later. It is gone this morning, so it wasnt too bad.

I usually dont use my 1um Diamond pasted strop and just use my CrO pasted. I am wondering if this is the difference and my face just hates diamond paste.

NOW FOR THE QUESTION:
After all that rammbling...

What is involved in "taming" the edge? Dropping all the way back down to the 8k for a few strokes and doing my normal progression(minus the diamond paste)?
