Thanked: 286polishing hone
I have a ch12k which i love the feel of after my 4k 8k i no it can be used as a ploisher with 100 to 150 laps. will this also add sharpness as well as smoothness i have yellow coti which smoothes but i have read will not add any more keeness.

Gary, I don't think you necessarily need that many laps . Joed and Holli4pirating have both posted that they got their edges super sharp and still smooth off of the Chi 12K. Check out this thread here. Down page for the relevant posts.
Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.

Thanked: 286thanxs for that jim looks like 100 laps is normal and every one who as used all have positives to say.No down sides i must say i thought it gave me a good smooth blade. I always prefer to use coti for some reason i just like that stone.

I think you should get an improvement in keen-ness as well: even with a stone that is as purportedly slow as the chinese 12k, you are still removing metal...
I have found that I get a smoother and sharper edge as I move up in grit range from hone to hone.
