When I started honing my razors, everybody told me that Norton makes the best hones to learn with. They also told me that if you are buying the stones to occasionally hone your razors, these were great. I bought mine and I am satisfied If you are set to buy Norton, this is perhaps the best deal you can get (+/-): Amazon.com: Norton Waterstone Starter Kit: 220/1000 grit stone, 4000/8000 grit stone, SiC flattening stone: Home Improvement
In addition to the 4k/8k hone the set comes with a 220/1k hone (for setting bevels and those wonderful Ebay special restores) and a flattening stone.

I just bought these Nortons off Amazon...they were delivered in about 5 days and was only $125 for the entire set (220/1000 grit stone, 4000/8000 grit stone, SiC flattening stone).
Amazon.com: Norton Waterstone Starter Kit: 220/1000 grit stone, 4000/8000 grit stone, SiC flattening stone: Home Improvement
I just finished sharpening my pocket knives and am now gearing up to do my first razor. So far I am very happy with them...
