    Default Blade ware

I'm very curious about my last honing experience. I've discovered that the pyramid technique that many use on the Norton 4/8k does nothing for me and I can't help but wonder if I should hone sooner.

I generally hone when I feel the blades begin to pull. Is that too late? Should I, perhaps, hone more frequently like monthly? Would it help/hurt if I were to give my blades a touch up on the 8k side every week or so?

As always; I sincerely appreciate all the help everyone so generously gives!

As soon as you feel that it is not shaving as well as it was, that is the time to touch it up. I don't think there will be any benefit to doing it sooner, but the harm would be minimal.

Hone when it's necessary. My first stop when the razors begin to tug is a CrO pasted strop. After several times, when the CrO doesn't work, then it's time to put it on my 4K/8K modified pyramid. If you need something more abrasive than that you've damaged your edge and need to work out the damage and reset the bevel. Depending on the razor I don't touch up on the pasted strop for 4-8 weeks.

i agree with both above said. Please note touch up is not honing. you should go first touch ups. chro2 will do it , or barber hones will do the job. if wont help then you can go next step to honing.
    hope this helps.
