Thanked: 0Get a Norton 4K/8K Hone
Wow! You guys were right about the Norton Hone. I've been whittlin on a Dubl Duck Gold Edge for a week with every thing I own, including a
Spyderco Double stuff and all I could get was whats best described as a bad sunburn.
Read your posts and ordered a Norton, got it today, Honed the ol DD and with some stropping on a paddle strop I bought from John C. I had a real shave!
Thanks a million.

Thanked: 0Yes, I have done some touchup work on a Carl Schmidt 4/8 and it shaves great, as well as having used it to put fantastic edges on a couple of old Rolls Razors (they are great shavers as well). The only Razor I have been unable to make shave is an old Royal Blue 5/8 razor. I don't think It'll ever shave.
Could be why it looks like it has just been laying around for a hundred years.

Thanked: 17Great!
Congrats on the honing success! The Norton really does the trick for most, and as you continue to use it, the 'feel' will become readily apparent - even for different steels and razors.
