Thanked: 267I like the 16K for a finishing stone before I go to the 0.25, 0.5 then Chromium pastes. Wonderful, smooth, and very keen edge. I have noticed that I have not cut myself in a long time by going to Chromium.
Take Care,
Richard

Thanked: 84If it has to be a hone rather than an abrasive coated media (pasted strop/felt/card/paper) I am now of the opinion (yes I do change my mind after trying new things) that you need to start thinking about hones above or about 12k grit. A coticule will give a keen edge on some razors sometimes or if you use a certain method like bart has found. I have found a Charnley or WoA to be good, but, I would think a shapton 16k might be quicker about it from what some gents have said on this forum
