Powder cleaners are supposed to be best. (I still need to buy some myself, so I can't vouch for it.)

Have you been using the DMT to lap other hones by any chance?

I sent one in for replacement once and when they sent me the new one they included a cleaning kit with a brass bristle brush and something like comet cleanser. I scrub mine down every so often.

How long did it take them to get back to you? They've had my stones nigh on 3 months...

Nothing like that. Inside of a month. I had to call a couple of times to refresh their memory but they were very good about standing behind their product and sent along a few free credit card sized plates as well as the cleaning kit. I would definitely give them a phone call on Monday if I were you.

I know what a nail brush is but a fairy ? Here in the colonies we leave our fairies as is.

Serious, what is Fairy? Anyway, I use a DMT 1200 also to set bevels, I love this hone! It sets quick and sharp, I use it before my BBW and coticule to good results. What kind of powder cleanser would anyone recommend if this was to start happening to my DMT (hasn't yet); is there any specific brand?
