Thanked: 317Microscope option.
Just wondering what you guys think about this: ThinkGeek :: Pocket Microscope
It looks a little on the cheap side, but for 12 or 13 bucks, I wonder how well it would work for inspecting razor edged.
My big concern is that it the minimum magnification is 60x, and I've seen a few folks who seemed to think that 30 was ideal.
Thoughts?

Yes, that will work. I assume there is a light but the text does not indicate such.
I use one that is similar but wider so one edge touches the spine and one edge touches the table. But that should work. 60 mag is fine.

Thanked: 171Check out the one I bought. It's cheap and easy to use, and I've posted a repeatable/easy way to use it.

All I've got is 30x and I don't know that it is ideal. From what I've read it is adequate. I might just order one of those hand held 60 - 100x and see if I benefit from having more power.
Must have been before you had your coffee Alan. The text notes that it is LED illuminated.
"The Pocket Microscope is a powerful 60-100x magnification microscope with an extremely lightweight and portable design. It features a built-in LED light that provides a bright, clear image and a rubberized eyepiece for comfortable viewing. Fits easily in your pocket to bring with you anywhere. Great for science education, printed circuit board (PCB) inspection, jewelers, hobbyists, tinkerers, and geeks of all types."Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.
