after Nakayama if you don't like sharpness of the blade too sharp then you can go to chr02 to dull it a little(you call cool edge off a little)

Now if you are going to chro2 and it gives you more sharpness that is means you haven't use your nakayama's full abilities something missing where i don't know.
lastly i should mention this. i have used only 2 nakayama and all above i am saying from that 2 stones. as you know they are natural stones will be different each other. shouldn't be too much.
Try be patient i am sure you will get there and see how sharp you can get your blade. you will enjoy from it.

We had a really good time at the NC Gathering doing something similar. We tried 10 strokes each on a Nakayama, Charnley, Shapton 16K, Naniwa Super 12K, Escher and Coticule and then followed on each with Yellowstone on a poly webbing or .5 diamond on felt or chromium oxide on felt. We were using a thumb pad on each of the razors and ended up shaving with a few of them too. There was great similarity on the thumb pad testing to all the razors off the stones and they all had that degree of sticky sharp to them. The pastes in every case took some of the sticky out or seemed to smooth the edge a little. The 3 razors I shaved with cut through a more than 2 day beard like butter.

These experiments are really great because I really believe and have seen that you you can shave right off all the stones mentioned and add the Norton 8K to those. I find that the quality of the shave is improved with the pastes and have never personally seen any edge denegration as a result of using them.

That wow; is how I feel about first cloth and hide strapping.

So when you say "right off.." do you mean right off?

I think of mt NA like a coticule too. A super one yeah, any time it could make the coti unnecessary after an 8k. But they work together well. They are different and the same. Of course the nakayama is the best edge I have -A.S. (after strapping

Sorry, I don't mean right off, I do mean after stropping smooth cotton and latigo. I thought that was a given... oops
