And even if you think its too rusted or not a good one to start on, is this hone wear okay? As an example?

Thanked: 171That is definitely significant hone wear. I bet it is hone-able and would be a good shaver, though. As a rule, that is probably too much hone wear, or at least at the very limit of what you should look for (in general). Not a bad example of a blade to practice restoring and honing, but I wouldn't buy ones like that as the norm.

Exactly. And so there are a lot of them out there, and they are cheap. But if they are fine for practice, so be it. I plan on honing them, then practicing resto, which will inevitably damage the edge, (nick here or there, and I'm no professional) so I can hone them again, and then give them away or sell them what I bought them for or something. Worst comes to worst I have an ugly but good shaver.
