Sham, open this link here and scroll down. Tim Zowada explains with text and photos his method of applying a secondary bevel.
Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.

Thanked: 488Sham,
I have a 15/16th Reynolds wedge and it had a pretty good edge on it but not as sharp as I wanted so I decided to go double bevel. I'm using three strips of tape. I'm not done by a long shot but I can let you know how it works out.

Thanked: 488Sham---I ended up using three layers of tape and used the BBW/Coticule. I ran 35 strokes on the BBW side with slurry then 30 on the Coticule side with slurry and 25 with water only and a light touch. Now that was after a few pretty easy strokes on the Naniwa 1000 (about 15). All I had to check it was a magnifying glass but as soon as I started getting results on the 1000 I stopped and went straight to the BBW.
It seems to have worked and I can barely see it with a strong magnifying glass but it's there and the razor is really sharp.
It was a Reynolds wedge that is about 15/16th inch on the toe and a bit smaller at the back. I had very little luck getting a very good edge with a single bevel after several tries so that's when I decided to try the double bevel.
Oh yea I used three strips through the whole process.
I hope this helps you some.

I will do a double bevel every now and then. I basically do what is outlined on Tim Zowada's site. I usually hone to 8k, so that it is shave ready then add two layers of tape and do 5-10 strokes on a polishing hone. I do not have the means to take a picture of the edge. It is not really visible to the naked eye it is a very small bevel.
I think that the double bevel is an easy way to a superlative edge, if you already have a good edge.
I like to change things up with my honing. I like the result of a double bevel but I do not like the fact that I can not do a couple of quick swipes on the hone to touch up.

Thanked: 488I'll say this it was a lot easier, for me anyway, to use the natural BBW/Coticule to do this than use the Nortons I used to have.

Lack of access to hones and razors denotes serious problems- I hope everything is ok.
