Thread: Smooth Shaves

I've shaved with about a half dozen razors now and they're all a bit different.

The Dubl Duck and Böker both shave excellently well and wonderful smooth without even quite being able to split the hair. I've been shaving with these the most because they're such a treat.

The Henckels both shave excellently well also and have super hair popping edges. They came that way, but still seem to feel a little coarser somehow. So does the W&B however I produced the edge myself from scratch (lol).

I think that the steel must play a big part, but I'm wondering how much might be my honing technique. I mean, if I could get the edge a little smoother on these last three blades do you think they might smooth out like the other two German blades or are they doomed to remain less than perfectly smooth for material construction reasons?
