mastro livi damascus

Those of yo that own a mastro livi damask while honing do you guys use tape to protect the pattern or just hone as normal with out tape. Does livi him self hone them with out tape before he sends them out? and is the shave worth the money they got the looks for sure.

On mine I tape the spine to protect the pretty pattern. It appears that Mastro does too as there is no hone wear but I couldn't say for sure. I don't know if what he does in the video is the regular routine but IIRC he isn't taping that one. They shave as good as they look IME.

I've just orderd a 7/8 abalone scales demask berbalone somthing like that realy nice. 800 euros from livi him self. I think i will use tape on this one.

I have several Livi's and I don't tape any of them. They hone up pretty fast with a 12K so wear is not a real problem. Even if they do there's this chemical you can get at Radio Shack which will brink the pattern right back. I don't remember the name but there are posts about it or you can PM Mike Blue he knows the name.
