    Default X vs Rolling X

Maybe someone can refer me to a link on this one...but is there a difference between X & rolling X? What is it?
    Thanks

Here is a link to the rolling X in the SRP Wiki section on honing. If you've ever sharpened a pocket knife with a clip blade it is a similar process except that the spine always remains on the stone along with the portion of the edge immediately opposite.

In a normal X stroke the entire blade remains on the hone. IOW, you are not rolling the blade to keep the sections that won't lay flat simultaneously in contact. If that makes any sense ?
Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.
