Thanked: 2209Natural Japanese waterstones...
Hello all,
Today I purchased a bunch of Japanese natural waterstones. Has anyone used these stones for honing razors?
The brand is shown only in Japanese characters so I will have to do some research to determine the manufacturer. They are not King stones.
The purchase was made at an estate/tag sale. The gentleman had beed a wood turner/carver. He had all the japanese planes and chisels & turning tools. He also had a lot of very nice Honduran & East Indian rosewood, zircote, bacote, cocobole, claro walnut, ebony and a whole bunch of othe r nice woods!
Guess what, I bought them all! I now have a lifetime supply!
It has been an extraordinary week. I actually bought, for $8, a mint, Belgian,Old Rock, XX fine hone. Then the next day I found another Belgian hone plus a superfine old barbers hone and a strop!
So, someone, let me know how the natual Japanese waterstones work for razprs, please!Randolph Tuttle, a SRP Mentor for residents of Minnesota & western Wisconsin
