Thanked: 0Is there somewhere in Ottawa that teaches honing?
Hi,
I am not new to straight razor shaving as I have shaved with a shavette daily for a year and about six months with a Dovo 6/8 round point and have enjoyed the experience very much.
I am now at a point where I need to hone my razor and bring the edge back to shaving quality. I have a Norton 8000/4000 water hone. I have done a lot of reading on this site and watched many videos, tried pyramids and circles and anything else that was talked about, but I am still not getting a good edge. It is good enough to shave with but it is not as close a shave as I am used to or would like. By this point, I am not even sure what I am doing wrong and I am worried about doing more damage than good to my razor.
I was wondering if there is anyone or anywhere in Ottawa that could actually show me how to hone properly and what I am doing wrong?
But a big thanks to everyone who has given advice on this site. Whenever I was learning to shave with a straight and was having trouble, this site helped a lot.
Tavis

Ottawa old-time(r)
Hey - I don't have a real answer to your question, but...I grew up in Ottawa, left to go to school in NYC and now live in Virginia. What part of town are you in?
I've been "hip" to the forum for about a week and I think it's greatest resource. I may be back in Ottawa around Christmas---maybe a razor meet-up?
