Gary it depends on the blade I am starting with. For awhile I was starting at 15 to 5 but since Lynn's tutorial in the Wiki I've had real good results with the 25 to 25 start and then following it just as it is in the Wiki here.
When I did the alternative aggressive pyramid found here I found that a lot of the time I had to repeat it anyway so in many cases I just go to the more intensive one Lynn posted to begin instead. Of course if the edge is pretty good to start with I would opt for a more conservative pyramid.Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.

Thanked: 286So once bevel is set you would go 25/25 15/15 10/10 and so on 5/5 1/5 1/5 aprox . on my norton i lways found 50 light strokes on 4k then 15 on 8k after bevel setting worked fine . with naiwas i did same process using 5k n 8k naniwa and my razor was'nt sharp enough and i had to go back. I just used 3k 5k naniwa and it worked the shave of 5k was good under my 30k loop the edge looks mint like its been polished on finer stone i wonder if any one else noticed this. After 8k naniwa do you use the 12k jimmy. i do think the 3k is more closer to 4k i wonder if any one else as noticed this if they have 4k to compare norton that is.
