Default Norton 4000/8000: Where to buy?

The Norton 4000/8000 waterstone is a favorite among users of this
forum. The price tag on this stone is not for the faint of heart.
Waterstones tend to be quite heavy and most stores send all
international orders by air. Since I live in Canada this
translates in a honing device acquired for much more than the
    listed price.

Anyone knows a place who either sells the Norton waterstones
really cheap and ship them by ground or, even better, somewhere
in Canada that keeps them in stock?

Ray at www.classicshaving.com offers up a good price. Have you tried using Google to find a Canadian supplier? Or ebay?

Cheapest I found (from a reliable source) is from Lie-Nielsen Tool Works, $65 plus $3 s/h (US). Their website lists a Canadian distributer as well. I've dealt with these folks on several occasions; absolutely top notch suppliers to the woodworking community.

    Thumbs up

I got mine also from Classicshaving.com. There is a price difference between a 2" and 3" The 2" was $65 the 3" $75. I like the 3" as the whole blade fits on it.

I should have added that the Lie-Nielsen stone is 3" wide, so at $65 is a great deal.

You may want to consider Canadian based Lee Valley Tools.
