Default Setting bevel with a flattened spine

Hello all. I have a Crown & Sword 1720, 5/8 full hollow with some very pronounced (but even) hone wear/spine flatting that I'm trying to sharpen up. It just doesn't seem to want to take an edge. Btw, I'm using a Norton 1k for the bevel setting. I have done about 50 laps with a normal x pattern.

So rather than stone it to death, I stopped until I can get some advice on a better stroke. 45 degree x? Circles? Rolling x? More laps with a normal x? All of the above? Thanks in advance for any advice.

    Best,

    Mark

A flattened spine, to me, would call for tape. One of the few instances I use it.

You know, the second I posted the thread, a little voice in my head said: "TAPE!...dumba$$."

That's when I knew that I was about to feel stupid.....

Thanks for confirming and pointing me in the right direction!

Also, there a link in a thread named "Fun with vernier caliper" or something like that with a nice Excel spreadsheet with all the calculations needed to know exactly how many layers of tape are needed to come up with the angle you need.
