    Default Strop Cant

I have found out restoring 24 of the 70 razors of my last buy that I have a fault in my stropping stroke or stance. Even though the strop was level and the razor was flat against the strop the razors were coming sharp at the heal first. I now cant the strop slightly this compensates for what ever I am doing to strop the heal first.

    Default Strop Cant

Ten more razors and I see what I am doing.

    • My strop hook is 34 inches off the floor.
    • I am 5'7"
    • I stand to the right of the strop
    • My elbow tends to be below the level of the strop.
    • In order to stand in front of the strop and strop conventionally the hook would need to be at about 24" off the floor

Now that I understand what is going on I will continue to be a side arm stropper and cant the strop. Hope this helps someone who has found he is not getting even sharpness the length of the blade.
