Thanked: 2591If you have CrO strop run the razor on it then test shave again, I am sure it will feel better. Strop it on leather after the CrO and it will be even better.
As far as the 12k chinese, I tried it and did not like the results at all, I talked to people and they pretty much confirmed that its a very random performance stone. I'd return it if I had not trashed the box already.
I finish my razor on 10k Super Stone then CrO and leather strop. I get very good shave this way, but I want even better so I am going to add 16k Shapton to see how it goes. Another option is 12k super stone, but as I was advised this one is very close to 10k.Stefan

Thanked: 199I know a lot of people stand by it, but for that razor, I would forget the Pyramid.
I have a W&B wedge that had the same kinda problems you are having.
I had to tape the spine and hit it hard and for quite a long time on the 220 Norton to get the whole edge to pass the TNT.
Now that you got that worked out, I would stay on the 4k for a while, checking every 20 passes to see how it does with the TPT. When you get the whole edge to pass the TPT, THEN, and ONLY then would I move to the 8k.
Check a shave rdy razor to get a feeling for how the TPT feels. Don't skimp on it either. Make sure you can feel it cut the ridges on your TP.
Be VERY careful tho. very light pressure...we don't want ya heading to the hospital for stitches!
But I think the moral of the story is, don't get caught up in the number of passes. Some razors, especially wedges will take longer cause you have to remove a lot more steel. Go with the tests, it'll save you from getting too frustrated. I know it has for ME at least
